In Canberra you will find the whole spectrum of shopping experiences ranging from extravagant boutiques, department stores and shopping malls to markets and designers from the locality.

City Shopping
The city offers numerous fashion boutiques, and designer shoe shops together with peaceful cafes in the walkways and arcades in City Walk. The Canberra Centre offers a huge selection of specialty stores, major department stores, cinemas and restaurants.

Canberra has two outlet centres, Direct Factory Outlet is in Fyshwick and Brand Depot at Majura Park near the airport. They offer fashion, sporting goods and home-wares at factory prices.

Only a few minutes walking distance from the city centre, Braddon offers shoppers a wide selection of options from elegant Australian fashions and local designers, handcrafted gifts, bookstore and galleries.

Manuka and Kingston
These two unique centres are only a five minute walk apart. You can shop for designer labels, fine antiques, beautiful jewellery, quality home-ware and gourmet food, and perhaps enjoy a coffee in one of the many cafes.

National Institutions
Most of the national institutions have specialist shops inside and the National Gallery has a range of art books.

Belconnen Mall
An indoor mall at Belconnen Town Centre to the north.

Canberra Centre
In the Civic area is a shopping mall with over 200 specialty shops including 'Myer" and 'David Jones' and other chains. Plenty of cafes and eateries as well. Bunda Street, CBD (02 6257 5232).

A shopping and restaurant area not far from Manuka.

The place to buy appliances and is also the 'red-light' district.

Canberra Markets
The Old Bus Depot Markets are open on Sundays and are recognised for the variety of clothing, handcrafted jewellery and art, furniture and local food and wines.

The Capital Regional Farmers Market opens on Saturday mornings where you can get fresh fruit and vegetables, flowers and plants, seafood, meats and gourmet cheeses.

Gormon House Markets are open on Saturdays for a selection of second hand books and vintage clothing.
