National Science and Technology Centre - Questacon

Canberra hotels

This is where science becomes fun and visitors can learn about science and technology through entertaining and enjoyable exhibits and displays. The aim of the centre is to make these sometimes rather challenging concepts more readily understood and enjoyed by everyone.

There are six galleries housing over two hundred exhibits to provide a full range of interesting education for people of any age. Some of the displays are permanent while others are regularly changed to introduce new dynamic presentations.

It is not surprising that the centre is extremely popular and attracts over a million sightseers each year. Some of the memorable experiences include seeing a spectacular lightning display, feeling an earthquake and getting hands on with ball balancing and music making. Another exciting highlight is the exhibit “Eaten Alive” which gives insights into sharks and other predators and the reasons for their behavior.

When at Questacon you can also be entertained with a lively performance in one of the theatres. Shows cover am amazing range of science topics covering explosions, tsunamis and dinosaurs as just a few examples

The centre is located on the shores of Lake Burley Griffin in the Parliamentary Triangle. Open every day (not Christmas Day) from 10.00am until 5.00pm. There is an admission charge.
